OverviewThis one-day training event will provide attendees with a good understanding of the specifications under development within the PCI-SIG I/O Virtualization (IOV) Workgroup. The IOV Workgroup is focused on three areas of specification: 1) Address Translation Services (ATS): ATS enables I/O Endpoints to interoperate with platform-specific Address Protection and Translation Table (ATPT) technology to improve platform performance. 2) Single Root (SR) I/O virtualization and sharing: Whether a client, server, storage controller, etc. customers are requesting standard methods to share a PCI Endpoint without sacrificing performance. This specification will cover the configuration, resource allocation, error / event / interrupt handling, etc. required to deliver an interoperable solution. 3) Multi-Root (MR) I/O virtualization and sharing: Blade technology for servers, storage, etc. is a high-growth area within the industry with strong customer interest and expectations. PCI-SIG member companies have requested specifications to cover how multiple blades can share an I/O Endpoint. This specification covers all that aspects of the MR problem space required to deliver an interoperable solution including configuration, isolation, routing, and many more topics. This event represents an opportunity for all PCI-SIG members to provide feedback and guidance to the specifications while they are being developed and all are encouraged to attend.
