Chapter 50. Edit a User

Overview

If the organization allows companies to edit their representative's accounts, Primary Contacts and other company administrators (i.e., users who have been assigned a Contact Type that confers the 'company_admin' role that provides access to Company Admin tools) can edit personal and contact information in these representatives accounts. This doesn't include the representative's username or password, which only the account holder can change.

How to use the Edit a User tool

Edit a User

Edit your representative's information, including personal and contact information.

Most options are self-explanatory. Some that may not be include:

Personal Info

Enter the user's name and title exactly as it should appear on the company roster (depending on your organization's privacy policy and the user's privacy preference settings), in any KaviŽ Groups in which the user participates and other dynamic lists.

Contact Information

Enter email and phone contact information.

Note

Depending on site configuration, an email address may not be required. However, unless a valid primary email address is provided, the user will not be able to receive login information or other email notifications automatically.

Contact Types

Assign or revoke Contact Types to reflect any special positions your representative holds with respect to the organization. Editing these types may change the user's access level. For more information on the roles and access privileges conveyed through these types, click the link to Contact Types.

Preferences

In the Preferences section, select the privacy option. Electing to hide your personal information will either completely hide your details or hide only certain information depending on how the web site is configured. To learn about how your organization manages privacy protections, read the guidelines provided under the Preferences heading and the organization's privacy policy.

If you select 'No, do NOT share information', some or all of your representative's information can be hidden. Selecting 'No, do NOT share information' has the following effects:

  • Removes (or partially hides) this user from a roster of people from the same company available to this company.

  • Removes (or partially hides) this user from membership rosters and directories.

  • In Kavi Groups, sets 'Display my address and phone number in addition to my name and email address' to 'No'.

Administrators may also use this field to make decisions about any other places this user may be displayed that are unique to this site.

Notify User of Change

Opt whether to notify the user about the change. If you choose to provide notification, an email will be send to the user. >
