PCI-SIG Developers Conference Offers Engineers In-Depth Training on PCI Express, PCI-X 2.0 and PCI v2.3
Conference Marking 10-Year Anniversary of PCI-SIG Provides Latest Information Direct from Authors of Newest PCI Specifications
PORTLAND, OR, - May 8, 2002 - The PCI-SIG (PCI Special Interest Group) announced today that it will be holding its 2002 North American PCI-SIG Developers Conference June 3-4 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in the heart of Silicon Valley. The conference will focus primarily on PCI Express (formerly 3GIO) and PCI-X 2.0, two highly anticipated I/O specifications that are currently under 60-day review by the PCI-SIG membership. Recent significant changes to the PCI Local Bus specification as documented in version 2.3 will also be presented, as well as other PCI technologies such as PCI Hot-Plug.
The PCI Developers Conference is designed to create an immersive and highly technical educational experience covering all aspects of the new specifications, with technical training sessions taught by key individuals involved in the specifications' development. With PCI Express and PCI-X 2.0 on the verge of public release, the PCI-SIG Developers Conference is a valuable, well-timed event for hardware design engineers, OS/firmware/device driver developers, engineering managers and systems architects in all areas of the computing and communications field.
"The PCI-SIG Developers Conference is a chance for the entire industry to experience the benefits that PCI-SIG member companies enjoy year-round-early access to new specifications and technical guidance from the engineers that develop and contribute to their design," said Rich Baek, executive director of the PCI-SIG. "This year's focus on PCI Express and PCI-X 2.0 makes the PCI-SIG Developers Conference a don't-miss event, so it's the perfect time to join the PCI-SIG and take advantage of the substantial registration discounts offered to members."
"The PCI-SIG Developers Conference is the starting line in the race to implement the advanced new capabilities of PCI Express and PCI-X 2.0 in next-generation computing and communications platforms," said Roger Tipley, president and chairman of the PCI-SIG, "These are the most wide-ranging, information-packed two days that the PCI-SIG has ever sponsored, and we encourage members and non-members alike to take full advantage of what this year's conference has to offer."
Networking and Social Opportunities
In addition to receiving invaluable in-depth technical training, conference participants will have the opportunity to interact with their peers and customers to discuss issues such as design considerations, standard silicon building block enabling, compliance and interoperability. Also, to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the PCI-SIG, conference organizers are planning social events where participants can relax and socialize after the back-to-back technical sessions of the two-day event.
Join the PCI-SIG Now for Discounted Registration
As with other events of its kind, PCI-SIG members receive discounted registration fees when attending the PCI-SIG Developers Conference. PCI-SIG membership provides many other benefits such as technical support, vendor ID (VID) and the ability to influence the direction of open-standard industry specifications as well as the PCI-SIG organization itself. Non-member attendees will need to sign non-disclosure agreements for this event, since much of the information covered is not yet publicly available. About the PCI-SIG
The PCI-SIG is the industry organization that owns and manages PCI specifications as open industry standards. The organization defines and implements new industry standard I/O (Input/Output) specifications as the industry's local I/O needs evolve. The PCI Special Interest Group was formed in 1992, and the organization became a nonprofit corporation, officially named "PCI-SIG" in the year 2000. Currently, more than 740 industry-leading companies are active PCI-SIG members. The PCI-SIG's current directors are employed by the following PCI-SIG member companies: AMD, Compaq, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Phoenix Technologies, ServerWorks and TI.
