PCI-SIG Elects Board of Directors; Directors Elect New Chairman, President and Officers
New Representatives from HP and Adaptec Named as Directors; Tony Pierce of Microsoft Named as Chairman; Al Yanes of IBM Named as President
PORTLAND, OR, - June 12, 2002 - The PCI-SIG (PCI Special Interest Group), the industry association responsible for bringing PCI, PCI-X and PCI Express industry-standard I/O technologies to the marketplace, announced today that it has elected a new board of directors at its 2002 Annual Meeting. The new PCI-SIG board of directors also elected Tony Pierce as the PCI-SIG’s chairman and vice president, and elected Al Yanes as the new president.
The PCI-SIG, representing more than 780 member companies worldwide, re-elected the following board members: David W. Smith of AMD, Al Yanes of IBM, Ramin Neshati of Intel, Tony Pierce of Microsoft, Gary Simpson of Phoenix Technologies, David Dorrough of ServerWorks, and Steve Schnier of Texas Instruments. Lawrence J. Lamers of Adaptec and Mike Krause of HP were elected as new additions to the board. The new HP director fulfills the director positions previously held by Roger Tipley of Compaq and Edward Chang of HP, as the PCI-SIG bylaws allow for only one representative from the merger of the two companies. The election of Lawrence J. Lamers marks the return of Adaptec to the PCI-SIG board. The board also named David Dorrough as treasurer and Lawrence J. Lamers as secretary.
PCI-SIG Builds on Industry Excitement for New PCI Technologies
The election of the PCI-SIG board and officers capped an exciting week full of PCI-SIG activities, including the PCI-SIG Spring 2002 Developers Conference and 10th anniversary celebration.
“It is an honor to serve on the PCI-SIG board during this year celebrating the PCI-SIG’s 10th anniversary,” said Tony Pierce, PCI-SIG, chairman and vice president. “We hope to continue the great leadership that Roger Tipley has provided to the SIG during the past several years. And now, with the PCI-X 2.0 and PCI Express specifications becoming available soon, we are looking forward to these new standards enabling exciting new product innovations.”
“The PCI-SIG sets the standard for setting standards, and I am pleased to represent this leading team of companies,” said Al Yanes, PCI-SIG, president. “The increased support from member companies has been driving more PCI innovations this year than any other year, and with 488 attendees last week, the Spring Developers Conference was the most successful event the PCI-SIG has ever held.”
