2002 PCI-SIG Developers Conference Tours Tokyo and Taipei
Conference Sessions Present Newest PCI-SIG Specifications Direct from Authors
PORTLAND, OR, - September 9, 2002 - The PCI Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG) today announced the 2002 PCI-SIG Developers Conference Tour in Tokyo, Japan and Taipei, Taiwan on September 20 and 24. These technical events immerse attendees in a full day of hands-on education that covers all facets of the newest PCI specifications and includes training sessions taught by PCI-SIG experts. With a focus on PCI Express™ (formerly 3GIO) and PCI-X 2.0, participants will learn about architectural details, protocol, signaling, electromechanicals, and migration. Most importantly, the conferences provide an opportunity for local Asian developers to directly learn from and interact with the world-renowned PCI experts who led development efforts for the specifications.
The first 2002 PCI-SIG Developers Conference (DevCon) will be held Friday, September 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Tokyo. Taipei will host the second PCI-SIG DevCon on Tuesday, September 24 at the Grand Formosa Regent Hotel.
With increased momentum rallying behind PCI-X 2.0 and PCI Express since their public debut in July 2002, the PCI-SIG DevCon is a valuable, timely event for hardware design engineers, OS/firmware/device driver developers, engineering managers and systems architects in all areas of the computing and communications field.

Conference sessions will be led by PCI Express workgroup chairman, Ajay Bhatt and PCI-X 2.0 workgroup chairman, Dwight Riley. As lead architect for PCI Express, Mr. Bhatt drives development of the scaleable PCI Express specification. Mr. Riley, principal member of technical staff for Hewlett-Packard, also leads the PCI-X 2.0 specification for the PCI-SIG. “The PCI-SIG Developers Conferences give local engineers the opportunity to discuss development issues in-person with PCI-SIG experts,” said Al Yanes, president of the PCI-SIG. “Our focus on PCI-X 2.0 and PCI Express gives attendees the choice to delve deeply into the two newest technologies with the key PCI-SIG members who wrote those specifications.”
Compliance Workshop
In addition to the PCI-SIG DevCons, the PCI-SIG will also host a three-day Compliance Workshop in Taipei. The compliance workshop offers PCI-SIG members an unparalleled opportunity to test and validate their products as they enter the market. Workshop testing contains two elements; 1) Specification Compliance: developers can test their products with the PCI-SIG maintained “Gold” test suite, 2) Interoperability: developers can test their products with other leading manufacturers of PCI products. With successful test results, and by completing the compliance checklist, the products are able to become part of the coveted PCI-SIG Integrator’s List, by which purchasing decisions are often made.

PCI-SIG member companies receive eight complimentary passes to the PCI-SIG Developers Conference.
