PCI-SIG Developers Conference to Be Held in Austin, Texas

Technical Engineering Sessions Provide In-Depth Instruction on New PCI-X 2.0 and PCI Express Architectures

PORTLAND, OR, - September 23, 2002 - The PCI-SIG, the Special Interest Group responsible for the development and advancement of I/O interconnect specifications, today announced plans to bring its popular Developers Conference to Austin, Texas on October 11, 2002. The single-day event will be held at the Doubletree Hotel—Austin.

This stop on the PCI-SIG’s 2002 DevCon Tour – celebrating the PCI-SIG’s 10th anniversary – will deliver comprehensive, highly-technical sessions taught by key PCI Express™ and PCI-X 2.0 specification developers. The Austin event will offer two simultaneous tracks on the newest PCI technologies: PCI-X 2.0 and PCI Express. PCI-X 2.0 training will include an architectural overview and details on protocol, electricals, server applications, migration from PCI-X 1.0 to 2.0 and PCI-X 2.0 implementation. The PCI Express track will provide an architectural overview as well as sessions covering protocol, electricals, mechanicals (cards/slots/modules) and software. The event addresses hardware design engineers; OS, firmware and device-driver developers; engineering managers and systems architects across all areas of the computing and communications field.

“The PCI-SIG’s 2002 DevCon Tour is an excellent educational forum in which we can further our commitment to provide the industry with up-to-date and in-depth technical details on the latest advancements in I/O interconnect technologies,” said Tony Pierce, PCI-SIG chairman. “We are excited to bring this event to the Austin developer community.”

“Successful technology adoption is greatly enhanced by giving engineers the ability to attend technical sessions taught by key PCI-X 2.0 and PCI Express architects,” said Al Yanes, PCI-SIG president. “Our goal is to provide PCI-SIG members and the developer community as a whole with the information necessary for successful compliance and implementation.”
