PCI Special Interest Group Reaches Milestone With 15th Compliance WorkshopWorkshops around the world fulfill industry demand for PCI device compliance testingPORTLAND, Ore. - August 26, 1998 - The 15th Compliance Workshop hosted by the PCI Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG) will be held Aug. 31 - Sept. 2 in Bellevue, Wash. This workshop marks a milestone for the PCI-SIG with nearly 100 companies that have had more than 200 products tested and approved. Compliance Workshops help PCI-SIG member vendors make sure their products will work with other PCI products, saving time and money by enabling them to test in one location with the appropriate tools and resources. Compliance testing helps ensure end users that the PCI products they purchase will be compatible with one another. "The far reaching success of the PCI Local Bus specification is a direct result of compliance testing by the many companies that have committed themselves to providing customers with products they can feel confident are PCI compliant," said PCI-SIG Chairman Warren Questo. "PCI-SIG has demonstrated that same commitment to its members abroad by hosting Compliance Workshops around the world." Compliance Workshops have helped to make the PCI Local Bus the most reliable, inexpensive and fully adopted bus technology in the world. Nearly 100 PCI-SIG member companies in Europe, Asia and the United States have tested a broad array of PCI products for compliance. Products that pass compliance testing are added to the Integrator List of PCI compliant products, which is available to PCI-SIG members through the PCI-SIG Web site located at http://www.pcisig.com. PCI-SIG Compliance Workshop test sessions include one-on-one testing for add-in card vendors and system vendors, add-in card testing, and system/motherboard/BIOS testing. With version 2.2 of the PCI specification anticipated for release in early fall, workshops will continue to be an important activity for maintaining product reliability and interoperability. The next international PCI-SIG Compliance Workshop will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, October 21 - 23. Workshops are free for PCI-SIG members. For more information about PCI-SIG Compliance Workshops, PCI-SIG members can contact PCI-SIG via phone at 800-433-5177 (within the U.S.) or fax at 503-693-8344, or visit the PCI-SIG Web site at http://www.pcisig.com. Formed in June 1992, PCI-SIG is the industry organization that owns and manages the PCI Local Bus specification. More than 850 industry-leading companies are active PCI-SIG members. The organization is chartered to support new requirements, while maintaining backwards compatibility for all PCI revisions, maintain the specification as an easy-to-implement, stable technology; and contribute to the technical longevity of PCI and its establishment as an industry-wide standard. |
