This message has been posted before. Please note that there is an extra
workshop planned in The Netherlands on September 17 and 18 (language is Dutch).

The PCI Workshop will come to the following places:
September 11, 12	Stockholm, Sweden
September 17, 18 Utrecht, Netherlands (language: Dutch)

Following is the text of the flyer we have printed for the PCI Workshops we are
organizing together with ACTIVE EXHIBITIONS. Note that the workshop language is
English, German or Dutch. We are currently considering to prepare a French
version. Please let me know if there is any interest in this. The workshop has
been given successfully since September 1995 for engineers from many different
companies, including PC manufacturers, motherboard designers, chip designers and
OEM's in applications like aerospace, aviation, medical equipment, research,
military, service and repair, telecommunication etc

PCI WORKSHOPS 1996, Coming close to you, throughout Europe

organised by: CONNECT BV and ACTIVE EXHIBITIONS EUROPE

* What are the subjects?
The PCI Workshop has five sections, which introduce the various subjects in a
step-by-step manner. Although the workshop is condensed, plenty of time is taken
to explain nearly all aspects of the PCI local bus in a deep technical approach.
1. Introduction: A general introduction is given with the history, design
   objectives and general architectural aspects.
2. General PCI Operation: Explanation of basic PCI characteristics, signals
   and cycles, timing, burst transactions, wait states and bus commands.
3. Electrical and Mechanical Aspects: Introduction of the electrical principles
   of the PCI local bus, bus loading, mechanical characteristics, PMC and
   CompactPCI
4. Advanced PCI Operation: many advanced subjects are treated in detail like
   Arbitration and Latency, Transaction Termination, Configuration Cycles, PCI
   Bridges, Interrupts, Cache Support, Special Cycles, etc.
5. Configuration Address Space: This sections deals with the issues of the
   `Plug-n-Play' principles like the setting of addresses and interrupts.

* Hands-On?
Actual PCI cycles and examples will be visualised using VMETRO's advanced PCI
Analyzer running in a PCI system. Participants will receive a software simulator
(for Windows) of the Analyzer with various examples of PCI cycles on a diskette.

* Who should attend?
The workshop is designed for hard- and software engineers, system integrators,
service technicians and support engineers who need to have a good technical
knowledge and architectural overview of the PCI local bus. Also engineering
managers and project leaders will benefit from the workshops since it will give
them an efficient means of appreciating the technology and judging when and how
the PCI local bus can be used in a project. The workshop will give a quick
flying start and sufficient knowledge to start working on projects, while the
literature provided will be a guide for future reference.

* Who teaches?
The workshop has been designed by CONNECT BV, who has a long history and in-deep
knowledge on various system- and bus-architectures. ACTIVE Exhibitions Europe is
responsible for the operational and logistics issues of the workshop. The
teacher will be one of the senior CONNECT BV employees. Language of the workshop
is English, German or Dutch unless otherwise indicated.

* In House PCI Workshop?
The PCI workshop can be given as an in-house course and adapted to specific
wishes. Please contact the organisation for details. The workshop can be given
in English (default language), German or Dutch.

* Workshop material? Participants will receive the coursebook which contains
copies of the overhead presentation and has plenty of space to make notes. Also
included are the latest PCI Specifications, a reference book on PCI and a
simulator of the PCI Analyzer with various cycle examples.

* When and Where in 1996:
September 11, 12	Stockholm, Sweden
September 17, 18 Utrecht, Netherlands (language: Dutch)
