I've *always* avoided IBM, for 2 reasons: 1) the price/performance ratio, and 2)
the absence of any possibility for intelligent support.

At any rate I finally solved the lockups with my testers.  I'm sending out a
general message to the list just so people have this info in case they every
confront this problem again.
