One problem with using special cycles is that many P2P bridges will NOT
forward them. These bridges usually support conversion of type-1
config cycle to special cycle. This places a burden upon the initiator
of the special cycle to resend all data to each bridge in the system.
If there are no bridges then you won't have any problems, but don't count
on it. As part of the new Intelligent I/O initiative next generation
platforms will have Intel 80960RP I/O processors on board. The RPs will
also provide the P2P bridge to support 4 additional PCI slots.
