Gentlefolk:
I have a project which entails using a compact PCI 3U chassis with
a Pentium for some development work. The end user has to interface to
some external hardware which is in another modular standard. They have
previously used an interface which consists of a 16-bit ISA card, cabled
to the controller for the external chassis. Preferred solution is a
compact PCI card that allows me to connect to an external ISA expansion
chassis so that they can use this card, and a couple more of the same
type, to leverage tons of existent software. Also, these interfaces are
only available in ISA, and the vendors have no plans to make new
versions for cPCI.
Your suggestions on available products to interface the cPCI
system to the industrial ISA expansion chassis would be welcomed. Have
already suggested the obvious answer of "buy a mixed PCI/ISA
motherboard" - they want to use the cPCI chassis they already have.
