Chip Conflict ?

Has anyone encountered problems running the AMCC S5933 PCI controller and an
Adaptec 7880 SCSI chip simultaneoulsy in an X86 or DEC Alpha platform ?

We have seen a handful of systems, primarily Alpha-based, that exhibit a
system crash or fail to boot when both of these chips are in the system.
Interestingly, if the older Adaptec 7870 chip is used this problem does not
occur.

Any thoughts or direction would be helpful.
