PCI 2.2

I was called by a couple of people over the last week or two saying
that they had been approached by various vendors claiming that they
were now engineering products "to the new PCI 2.2 standard." Of
course, the ensuing question was when MY company's products would
be brought up to date.

To make a long story short, a couple of phone calls resolved the
matter. Apparently the talk had started somewhere within the
"PCI Plus" conference put on by Annabooks. It was remarked by
one of the steering committee members that this was the first time
they had heard of it.

There HAS been some talk of folding the current ECNs into the
specification, in addition to cleaning up some language and typos,
and that might be called PCI 2.11 instead of 2.2. This work would
be expected to be done by the end of the year. In terms of new
form, fit, or function, however, you should look to the Hot-Swap
PCI, Compact-PCI, PMC-Mezzanine, or Cardbus specifications.

Would the owners/caretakers of these specifications care to post
the current status and perhaps a URL regarding these projects?
It would be much appreciated.
