All,
I have designed a digital audio add-in product using the AMCC 5933 chip and
am now considering using an Altera FPGA or EPLD for a PCI interface on a
target-only card.
I am interested in the experiences that others have had using the free PCI
target Megafunction design that Altera provides..
Is it easy to modify into a useable PCI interface ?
Are there many PCI compatibility problems ? (timing, bus loading, etc..)
Which Altera device did you target ?
Is it cost effective as compared to an AMCC or PLX chip ?
Any other comments would be apprecicated.
Altera has also released a MegaCore PCI Master/Target design that can be
purchased for $7995. I would like to avoid this expense if I can, but it has
been hardware tested as opposed to the free Megafunction design.
Thanks,
Bob Bauman
