Question on PCI SPEC

Hellow. My name is Hiroki Kihara.

I work for sony co. semiconductor division.

I have a question on PCI spec rev2.0 p95-p96 "Maximum AC
 ratings and device protection" .

I wonder whether the PCI ICs must be tolerable to the 11V input
for long time (ex. 10 years) or not.

I understand the meaning of the spec.

But,if the PCI buffer had zero output resistance, the signal
wouldn't be stable permanently, that is, anybody can't use s
 uch a buffer.

So, I think we need not to assure the spec as long term(ex.
 10 years) spec.

PS. Of course, I recognaize the meaning of the spec as short
      term reliability.

 Regards, Kihara
