Re: Experience about the setting of MIN_GNT and MAX_LAT?




These values should be used to program the value of your latency timer and
could also be used to determine an arbitration priority.  It seems,
however, that many systems don't really care what these values are.  This
may be due to their ambiguous treatment in the current spec.  

Neither the meaining nor the intended use of these registers is made at all
clear.  What target latency is assumed?  Initial v. subsequent?  When
specifying MAX_LAT, do you assume that you are getting the grant time 
specified my MIN_GNT?  How the system interprets these values and what it 
does with them seems to be left wide open.

Anybody have any further experience or insights in this area?
