3.3V power supply.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Could anyone tell me when the +3.3V power supply was added to the PCI
specification, or indeed if it has always been there.
The reason I ask is that I have been working on a PCI expansion card design,
and the prototypes have just come back from the PCB manufacturer. I've
plugged it in, and found that I've been unable to program the Altera logic
device on my card. On further investigation, I've discovered that there is
no +3.3V power supply provided at the relevant pins on the PCI connector. It
is this 3.3V supply which powers my logic device.
The PC that I am using is a Pentium-based machine, approximately 3 years
old, and there are other PCI cards installed, but these don't use the 3.3V
supply at all.
Is the 3.3V supply a relatively new addition to the specification ??
Cheers
Pete.
