It has been a couple of years, but I thought that part
of the membership agreement (and charter) in for the
PCI sig group was a mutual cross-license or hands-off
agreement with relation to patents and copyrights
related to PCI.

As I recall, there was a legal test that they set up
for the agreement kind of like a stimulus for an HDL
simulation.  They stipulated a device like a memory
system attached to the PCI bus.  Was it patentable? 
No, according to the agreement the member would have
signed with the SIG.

Does someone have some reference material on this
subject?
