It is easy to do this with Symbios SCSI boards (< $30 a pop) and
trivial with 8250/16450/16550 compatable serial boards (aparantly 
more expensive because every one has enough serial ports onboard
and USB->RS232 is marketing department's preferred solution for
Wintel platforms).
