PCI Bandwidth Usage

Does anyone have a guess as to how much bandwidth might be taken up by a PCI
based ethernet interface, configured for DHCP?  We've noticed a significant
difference in performance when we have the network software installed and
DHCP installed.  The system runs considerably slower.  Unfortunately in our
application, everything was optimized while we were still connected to a
network with DHCP installed.  When we disable DHCP (uninstall the Ethernet
drivers in windows NT), bad things happen!
Our PC is being used as a real time controller and with Ethernet interface
disabled we just simply are running too fast.
