Hot-Plug PCI / Hot-Swap PCI
Chapter 22 of the "PCI SYEM ARCHITECTURE, PCI rev 2.2 - Mindshare Inc"
text covers the subject of "Hot-Plug PCI" This text indicates that no
special requirements are necessary when designing PCI silicon to be
Hot-Plug compliant, only that the device be rev 2.2 compliant. (Outputs
tristated during RST#)
In the pci-sig archives, I noticed some references to Hot-Swap PCI and
was wondering if this was the same thing as Hot-Plug PCI. I suspect not,
since the pci-sig discussions seemed to be around having special PCI I/O
pads that can handle being plugged hot.
If they are not the same, can anyone suggest a text or reference where I
could find out the requirements.
Also, does anyone know to what extent Hot-Plug/Hot-Swap is being used
now and in the future.
Thanks in advance.
