RE: PCI slot lost on power up?

A search on the 'net came up with Cypress (CYP) and IC Works (ICW), the
latter is now part of Cypress. On Cypress's website, there is a W127-A
clock chip.

Unless this is a Hot-plug-capable box, that seems reasonable. Hardware
should not have changed between power-up and reboot, so no need to re-check
all the slots again.
But maybe you can use this to your advantage. Power up the system with a
card in the enabled extender board so that the box sees it and leaves the
clock enabled.
