Dear Friends,

I am new to the PCI arena and have some very basic questions.

Are there any spare pins in the 32 bit version of the PCI bus that can
reliably be used for a dedicated function between proprietary cards?  If
there are unused pins, are they typically bussed between card slots?  Are
these pins guarenteed to not be used by backplane vendors for their own
purposes?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
