Be warned that, under an heavily loaded windows machine, you risk the
interrupt latency be higher, due to the OS not serving the interrupts.

Somewhere in the Microsoft PC99 guidelines they said that some
milliseconds of latency is to be expected.

I recall someone on this list saying that they had to insert buffers for
a number of milliseconds.

Alas, no one really has real numbers (or keeps them as a trade secret).
