Nilesh U too have a Great Day,
As per the mail u have sent, this is my understanding, once u enter the capability ID in the Configuration space, it is not mandatory that silicon has to support, at the boot up it will be detected that there is a value in capability pointer say like PCI-X or say like power management feature, AGP card interface etc and it will be accessing to that when it is present else, it will only detect that's it
Thanks & Regards

Hi,
Have a nice day
This is with reference to PCI2.3 standard release. This standard contains new updated
capabilities list id starting from 0x07h to 0x0ch.
In here, 0x07h id is dedicated for PCI-X functionality. I have following question for the
same ?
Now does that mean that if 0x07h is there than silicon device needs to support PCI-X
functionality ? if so then PCI2.3 compatible device can work as PCI-X device also ?
That means if all ids are there in capability list, than silicon has to support all
functions ?
I would appreciate your response on this.
Thanks and Regards,
