Re: PCI Clock arising problem



I've had this problem before too. The BIOS disables the clock when it 
decides there is no device in the slot. Sometimes there may be a BIOS 
setting to override that, but not in our case. I looked into poking the 
bridge bits to turn the clock back on, but wasn't sucessful in the 
alloted time. What we do now is use a switchable extender card (Catalyst 
PCIBX64), powerup with any valid device, after boot turn off the (slot) 
power, switch to DUT, turn power back on, then load the BARS, etc as 
appropriate. Once you have your device responding properly to 
configuration accesses it should not be a problem.
