RE: About the situation with http://www.yourvote.com/pci/

PCI Folks,

The comments in my previous email titled:
"About the situation with http://www.yourvote.com/pci/"
were premature and it has come to my attention that my email contains several pieces of erroneous information surrounding the events and the use of logos and trademarks.

I asserted in my earlier mail that the PCI-SIG has the right to protect its logo and I still do, though that is my personal opinion. I think some folks may have misread my earlier comments on that. To the use of the letters "P" "C" "I", I'm not a lawyer, and in retrospect feel I should not be spouting off about trademark enforcement. I'll leave that to the legal minds in the world to figure out, and I would say to others that might be a good approach for most folks.

I also have to say my adjectives were over the top, especially given the efforts already underway when I wrote my personal opinion of the events. BTW - In case there is any confusion at all, my comments were my own and I was not representing the views of Intel or any other party.

I will not be commenting further on this issue and I suggest that any and all relevant discussion be directed to the actually involved parties. (Which would be Mr. Boemler and the PCI-SIG).

And just as a further note (which is speculative observation), it has been my observation (and only an empirical one at that) that this mail list is not really an appropriate place for messages to the PCI-SIG (despite my own posting). The PCI community uses the list, but SIG involvement in it is unclear. It is probably better to use other means of discussion to address this topic and topics like it.
